Te Lovers Newsletter - 2 Year Anniversary!!
We can't quite believe it - another year has already passed! It's oft repeated that you'll never forget your first year in business. While our first year was certainly memorable, our 2nd year has been full of exceptional memories, especially of all the new friends we have made through our customers and supporters.
This weekend, March 8 and 9, we'll be celebrating our anniversary in a special way, with free cake and other goodies, a lion dance, a chado, and other fun events:
Let's Start with Friday Evening - Tango dancing
Auspiciously, March 7 is also Connie's birthday. She doesn't know this yet (and let's hope she doesn't check the website!!), but we'll surprise her during tango night with a special birthday girl tango custom: she'll do a round of dancing with all the guys! Tango's always a fun evening of friends and dancing, so drop by if your inclined to give Connie a spin on the floor, or just to wish her a happy birthday. Connie is a "Rat" in the Chinese calendar, and this being the Year of the Rat, it's an especially important birthday to her :)
Saturday 2 pm - Chado
At 2 pm on Saturday, our friends with the Urusenke Foundation will host a Chado - commonly known as a "Japanese Tea Ceremony". Come to watch, or participate, and enjoy some fresh matcha and treats as we pull out our tatami mats to perform this peaceful, elegant ritual.
Saturday 4:30 pm - Lion Dance performance
Clang! Clang! Boom boom!! The clashing percussion instruments accompanying the dancers are half the fun! A local martial arts troupe will perform a lion dance in front of our store, starting around 4:30 pm, and it's a colorful and exciting event for all. Children especially will love this event, as they see the lion prance around, flirt, and dart about in search of ... lettuce. Huh, Lettuce?! Of course, can't you see, it represents money - looks just like a big wad of bills, all crumbled up, and it's an important part of the performance. The Lion Dance is an old Chinese tradition with merchants, used to bring them and their customers good fortune through the rest of the year.
Saturday 9 pm to midnight - Groovy Swing
The regularly scheduled Demitasse Dance - hosted by Second Cup Swing - is every Saturday night. Maybe we can get Connie to dance during this night too - put on your dance shoes and groove to the swing beat!Anniversary Cake
You can't have an anniversary without anniversary cake, right?! Throughout the weekend, we'll be sharing free slices of a delicious home-made cake from our pastry chef Tina.
Thank you - thank you, our customers, our friends, for making this 2nd year so special and memorable. We're looking forward to a wonderful 3rd year, with exciting plans in the works!
