Té Lovers Newsletter - November
Along with the first snow flurries of November (ha, ha! Snow? In Houston?! In November no less! Hey, we can at least dream :) ), there's been a flurry of activity at Té House of Tea. Let's see if we can catch you up on all the events:
If you missed this performance: not to worry. Chado classes are forming soon! We have developed a long-standing relationship with the Urasenka Foundation, and they like our tranquil shop, so have offered to start beginning Chado classes here. This is an 8 week course, scheduled one day a week. To register, sign up at our shop, or send email to info@tehouseoftea.com.
To complement this event, this evening we are offering our Tea Flight Special. 5 varieties of tea and a free dessert, for $10. Use this opportunity to sample some teas outside your norm. Maybe try, for example, some tea from Turkey itself - Turkey is now the 5th largest producer of tea in the world, and is famous for its strong black teas.

Téngo Tango
Our first Tango dance night, organized by our friends Diana and Gonzalo, was quite a success. If you happened by on the first Friday of November, you would have found the tea house full of dancers, music, empanadas, and wine (it's BYOB here at Té). It was such a success that Téngo Tango will be a regular event at our tea shop. Every Friday evening, from 9 pm to midnight. Come to dance, come to watch ... come to enjoy another cultural tradition.Chado
Our apologies for getting this newsletter out to you so late. We weren't able to inform you of our Chado demonstration this past Sunday; oops! Put on by the Urasenka Foundation, this traditional Japanese tea "ceremony" was very interactive, involving our customers in the performance. Everyone received healthy doses of peace, patience, and tranquility ... and of course delicious tea :)If you missed this performance: not to worry. Chado classes are forming soon! Tea Culture and a Turkish Tea Ceremony
Tonight! Yes, come by tonight, this Thursday November 17, for two interesting subjects. First, at 7 pm will be a presentation from Bayou Bend/Museum of Fine arts, on the many varieties of tea cultures around the world. We'll learn about Mongolian Tea, Tibetan Tea, Turkish Tea, Persian Tea and Russian Tea cultures. Then, at 8 pm, our loyal customer Emin Dinlersoz, assistant professor of Economics at the University of Houston, will perform a very interesting Turkish Tea Ceremony. We're excited! So, come on by and expand your tea horizons. To complement this event, this evening we are offering our Tea Flight Special. 5 varieties of tea and a free dessert, for $10. Use this opportunity to sample some teas outside your norm.
